I decided to visit Gullfoss because I have heard that it was more than one waterfall and you couldn't see the bottom unless you're looking at a certain angle. I thought that it would be kind of cool to find that one angle to be able to see the bottom where the water falls into a crevice.
It is nicknamed "The Golden Falls" because when the water falls over the edge, it looks like glistening gold.
In the early years of the 20th century, there was some tension about whether or not to use the falls for hydroelectric power.
Gullfoss is one of most visited tourist attractions in the country.
When you first enter the falls, it appears that a river just vanishes into thin air. (The crevice is obscured from your view.)
